An Exoskeleton With 38 kg of Lift Support Ships With a Fleet Dashboard
The Exia runs on-device inference with over-the-air updates and a cloud platform for ergonomic assessment — the same telemetry pattern as any other industrial edge device.

German Bionic showed the Exia robotic exoskeleton at CES 2026, held from 6 to 9 January in Las Vegas. It delivers up to 38 kg of dynamic lift support per movement and is described as the company's most powerful series-production exoskeleton.
The device runs what the company calls augmented AI, trained on anonymised motion data captured from workers in logistics, manufacturing, retail, airports and healthcare, adapting support in real time and improving through over-the-air updates. Around it sits a familiar stack: a companion app for individual settings, usage analytics and performance insights, and a data platform providing ergonomic assessments, activity monitoring and fleet management through a dashboard.
That architecture is the point for anyone in industrial IoT. A powered exoskeleton now ships with on-device inference, OTA firmware, a cloud fleet dashboard and per-user ergonomic analytics — which is to say it is an edge device, and becomes an integration target rather than a standalone tool. Device management, update governance and the privacy handling of worker motion data all become somebody's responsibility, and that somebody is usually the integrator rather than the vendor.
The worker-motion data question deserves more attention than it usually gets. A record of how an individual moved through a shift is personal data in most jurisdictions, and it is the kind of data that is genuinely useful for ergonomics and genuinely capable of being misused for performance management. Deciding in advance what is aggregated, what is retained and who can see individual records is not a compliance afterthought; it is the thing that determines whether the workforce accepts the device.
On which point, the company also announced in late December 2025 new Exia vest designs engineered specifically for female physiology, debuting at CES. Norma Steller, head of development, is quoted saying comfort and fit determine whether technology is actually adopted in everyday work — which matches what the field keeps showing. In wearable-assist rollouts, abandonment is usually driven by fit rather than by force output.
