IKEA is growing the Thread installed base with over twenty new products, joining Aqara, Bosch, Philips Hue, Yale and others bringing Matter devices to market this year.

IKEA is expanding the Thread installed base with a lineup of more than twenty new products, part of a broader wave that also includes devices from Aqara, Bosch, Home Assistant, Level, Meross, Philips Hue and Yale.

IKEA's position in this market is different from the other names on that list. Its pricing puts mesh devices into homes that would not otherwise buy them, and Thread's reliability depends directly on the density of mains-powered nodes willing to relay for battery ones. A large volume of inexpensive always-on devices improves the network for every other device in the house, including those from competitors.

That is the quiet argument for standards over ecosystems: the value of a mesh grows with the number of participating devices regardless of who made them, provided they genuinely interoperate. Thread 1.4's credential sharing is what turns that from a theoretical property into one that holds in a house with hubs from three vendors.
