Mobile Robot Market Forecasts for 2026 Diverge by a Factor of Two

Anyone building a business case around autonomous mobile robots this year will find the market sizing unhelpfully wide. Published 2026 estimates include USD 5.49 billion from Grand View Research, USD 5.18 billion from Mordor Intelligence, USD 3.20 billion from Fortune Business Insights and USD 2.75 billion from MarketsandMarkets. The highest figure is roughly double the lowest.

The spread is not a disagreement about how many robots are being sold. It is a disagreement about what counts. Some methodologies count only the mobile robot hardware. Others include the fleet management software, the charging and docking infrastructure, integration services and ongoing support. Some include automated guided vehicles alongside genuinely autonomous machines that navigate without fixed guidance; others treat the two as separate categories. Warehouse and logistics accounted for just under a third of the market in 2025 by one count, which means the treatment of manufacturing, healthcare and inspection robots moves the total considerably.

The practical response is to ignore the headline number and read the segmentation. A figure that includes services is the right comparison for a total cost of ownership discussion and the wrong one for sizing a hardware purchase. A figure that bundles guided vehicles with autonomous ones will overstate growth in the autonomous segment specifically.

Growth direction is the one thing every source agrees on, and the drivers are consistent: e-commerce volume, persistent difficulty hiring warehouse labour, and the shift toward facilities designed around automation from the start.

The forecasts are useful. They are just not interchangeable, and quoting one without its definition is how a business case acquires a number nobody can defend.
