Remote Access to Fire Systems Gets a Standards-Shaped Answer
A trade association white paper ties connected fire safety to EN 50710 and CLC/TS 50136-10, and cites false alarm ratios above 85% in some countries as the case for analytics.

Euralarm published a white paper titled "Digital fire safety in a connected world" on 1 June 2026, covering the integration of fire detection, remote services and cybersecurity.
The paper names the standards that govern this territory, which is the part worth extracting. EN 50710:2021 covers remote services to fire safety and security systems, CLC/TS 50136-10 covers remote access infrastructure, and ISO/IEC 27001 covers information security management. It cites Euralarm's 2022 false alarm study, which found that in some countries the false fire alarm ratio of fire detection and alarm systems exceeds 85%, and positions connected analytics as a mitigation. Euralarm forecasts that interconnected digital fire safety will become standard practice across many new and modernised buildings during the second half of this decade, as connectivity and remote-service requirements become embedded in European regulatory frameworks.
The message for anyone doing building connectivity work is a boundary. A fire detection and alarm panel is not a generic industrial asset onto which a VPN can be bolted; putting a remote-access path onto a life-safety system in Europe means designing against EN 50710 and CLC/TS 50136-10, and the result is a certifiable deliverable rather than a value-add feature. Treating it otherwise is the kind of decision that surfaces during a fire authority inspection.
The false alarm figure is the commercial argument on the other side. A system that cries wolf more than four times out of five is a system whose alarms the building's occupants and the local fire service have both learned to discount — the same failure mode that afflicts process alarm systems, with more serious consequences. Remote diagnostics and analytics offer a route to reducing that, and the standards define the terms on which the connection can exist.
Euralarm is also launching the first European Fire Detection Forum, to be held on 2 December 2026 in Cologne.
