Wi-Fi HaLow Silicon Reaches Mass Production as Deployments Go Live
Quectel's FGH200M module, built on Morse Micro's MM8108, entered mass production in August 2026 as sub-GHz Wi-Fi moves from pilots into commercial rollouts.

Wi-Fi HaLow, the sub-GHz 802.11ah standard, has moved past the pilot stage: chipsets from Morse Micro, Newracom and others are in production, and Quectel's FGH200M module built on the Morse Micro MM8108 entered mass production in August 2026.
HaLow occupies an interesting position. It runs at around 900 MHz, so it propagates far better through buildings than 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, while remaining IP-native and using familiar Wi-Fi security and tooling — avoiding the gateway translation layer that Zigbee and Z-Wave deployments require.
The practical constraint is regional. Sub-GHz spectrum allocation differs by country, so a product intended for several markets needs radio variants in a way a 2.4 GHz design does not. Broad mass-market availability is expected around late 2027 to 2028, which makes 2026 the year to prototype rather than the year to commit a high-volume product.
